What If MedGlobal’s Health Facility Was Not Ther
Author | leena.sahlou

In only 5 weeks, 44 SAM cases (severe acute malnutrition) came to the MedGlobal health facility in Al Fash town in the Hudaydah Government, Yemen in which more than 25,000 people from host communities and IDPs live in and throughout surrounding areas. The 44 children received the required medical treatment and nutritional support by the nutrition clinic in the health facility. It is the only health facility in these very underserved rural areas. Besides nutritional support, the health facility provides Reproductive Health, OPD and EPI services in addition to in-home visitation awareness campaigns by MedGlobal Community Health Workers. Yemen continues to suffer from high acute moderate and severe malnutrition rates that threaten 50% of the Yemeni children under the age of 5. Conflict and economic crisis remain the main drivers of acute food insecurity and malnutrition in Yemen, further exacerbated by the instability of humanitarian assistance. We need your support.
