Escalating Israel-Lebanon Hostilities Risk Catastrophic Crisis For IDPs And Syrian Refugees, MedGlobal Warns
Lebanon Country Director Tania Baban Available for Interviews
Beirut, Lebanon – The intensifying conflict risks a catastrophic humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, which already hosts the highest number of refugees per capita in the world. With 90,000 Lebanese displaced by recent violence, both internally displaced persons (IDPs) and Syrian refugees face dire conditions. MedGlobal, which provides essential healthcare and humanitarian aid in Lebanon, underscores the urgent need for international support and restraint.
Tania Baban, Country Director of MedGlobal Lebanon, said:
“Lebanon is on the brink of a humanitarian collapse. The escalating violence is worsening conditions for Syrian refugees and displaced Lebanese. Immediate global support is crucial to prevent further disaster.”
Tania Baban is available for print and broadcast interviews and can provide insights into the current situation, the humanitarian impact of the conflict, and MedGlobal’s response efforts.
MedGlobal supports a clinic in the Bekaa Valley, in Southern Lebanon, providing comprehensive healthcare to vulnerable populations, including Syrian refugees and newly arrived IDPs. In anticipation of further escalation, MedGlobal is preparing to deliver emergency medical and humanitarian aid, including supplies, food, hygiene kits, and winterization items.
The organization is also stockpiling resources and collaborating with NGOs and local authorities to establish a Command and Control Center for a coordinated national response to mass casualties.
