MedGlobal Calls for Immediate Ceasefire and Safe Humanitarian Access Amid Sudan Famine Crisis

Organization Accelerates Medical Aid Efforts as Conflict Intensifies

Port Sudan, Sudan – MedGlobal is gearing up to intensify its medical aid efforts in Sudan following the recent declaration of famine in the Zamzam displacement camp in the Darfur region. The declaration underscores the severe humanitarian crisis resulting from 15 months of civil war, with over 10 million internally displaced and more than 25 million facing acute hunger.

Adil Almahi, MedGlobal’s Country Director in Sudan, calls for urgent action and heightened global awareness:

“Hospitals are being targeted, children are dying from starvation and aid deliveries are obstructed. The international community needs to do everything possible to guarantee aid workers unrestricted access to all regions of Sudan. We desperately need this access to prevent further loss of life.”

Since 2019, MedGlobal has provided vital medical, nutritional, and WASH support to displaced civilians in Sudan, including in a cholera response in Gedaref State. We also support a hospital in Wadi Halfa, Northern State, and operate a clinic near the Egypt-Sudan border to aid those fleeing the war before they cross into Egypt. In addition, our teams have delivered over 3 million liters to displaced communities through water trucking.
