Update: MedGlobal Condemns the Increasing Arrests of MedGlobal Healthcare Staff in Gaza and Calls for Immediate International Support

Following the recent arrest of MedGlobal’s Nurse at Kamal Adwan Hospital, MedGlobal confirms that a total of five MedGlobal-affiliated staff  were detained in the same incident. With limited communication access to our team in northern Gaza, MedGlobal is gravely concerned for their safety and well-being amid increasingly perilous conditions.

MedGlobal urgently calls for the immediate release of our staff, and all humanitarian workers who have been detained. Their work is critical to the delivery of life saving healthcare at a time when injuries and other medical needs are acute and health services barely functional. Any threat to our colleagues’ safety also threatens those in urgent need of healthcare and flouts the cornerstone principle of international humanitarian law which protects civilians, including medical workers, in war. 

MedGlobal reiterates its call to the warring parties, international leaders, human rights organizations, and the global community to take decisive action in safeguarding healthcare and humanitarian aid workers in Gaza and to demand strict adherence to international laws protecting medical personnel in conflict zones.
