MedGlobal Condemns Killing of Civilians, Medical Personnel in Brutal RSF Attack on North Darfur’s Zamzam Refugee Camp

MedGlobal, a leading humanitarian aid organization providing medical aid in Sudan and other global crisis regions, strongly condemns the killing of civilians, including children, and medical humanitarian personnel in an attack by the Rapid Support Forces in Zamzam Camp in El Fasher, North Darfur.

“Civilians and medical staff can never be targets in an armed conflict,” said Joseph Belliveau, executive director of MedGlobal. “Their killing constitutes a grave breach of International Humanitarian Law and a direct assault on the right of non-combatants to their health and safety.”

MedGlobal has previously supported healthcare efforts in North Darfur and we stand in solidarity and commiseration with the families and community of the murdered civilians and aid workers in today’s brutal and tragic attack.

MedGlobal calls on all parties to the conflict in Sudan to conduct hostilities in a manner consistent with their legal and moral obligations to protect civilians and permit the safe delivery of humanitarian and medical aid.
